At a ceremony presided over by the regional Minister of Industry, Innovation, Commerce and Tourism, Bernabé Unda, the sales director of Iberdrola, Aitor Moso, signed an agreement to secure the incorporation of Iberdrola into the METAPOSTA system. Xabier Sabalza, vice president of METAPOSTA, signed the agreement on behalf of the company. With the incorporation of Iberdrola as a slender, METAPOSTA has taken its most significant step forward until now in its expansion into the rest of Spain.

As of this moment, the more than 11.5 million customers of Iberdrola in Spain, of which 1.2 million reside in the Basque country, can receive their electricity bills in their electronic mailbox with METAPOSTA just by following the simple process required to activate Iberdrola as a sender.

The incorporation of Iberdrola into METAPOSTA represents another step forward in this company’s determined policy to conserve the environment and to promote sustainable growth, eloquent proof of which came in 2010 with the company's major investments in renewable energies, which totalled almost 3000 million euros. Last year, Iberdrola broke all previous records by producing 25,405 million kilowatts/hour (kWh) in its renewable energy installations. It generated 48% of its power free of emissions, with an average emission of 256 gr of CO2 per kWh, one of the lowest levels in the European Union, where the average is 412 gr/kWh.

Iberdrola has had links to METAPOSTA since the beginning, as one of the 18 sender entities that backed its presentation on February 16, in support of the work to be done through this initiative in the promotion of the information Society in a number of different areas.
